Nerd Alarm!
I read a story the other day by
evila_elf, some kind of "Adult House&Wilson Click Adventure", I´d describe it for a lack of a better expression. You´ve surely seen it... huge fun. It reminded me of those great computer games of when I was a little nipper. Monkey Island, anyone? Oh, those were the days. My favorite has always been Broken Sword or Baphomets Fluch as it was called over here. A starchy American travelling the world to solve a mystery evolving around the temple knights.
You do remember George Stobbart, right?

What I loved most was the lovely 2D world, as soon as I found out part 3 was going to be in 3D I wasn´t interested anymore. I only played the first two parts... I got to wander around in Syria, Paris... or Ireland. (I know these were two countries and a city; so my numeration isn´t very elegant.) You had to combine the weirdest items to end up on Zombie Island... or an Irish Pub. Which, come to think of it, probably isn´t that remote from one another.
So when I say I loved this game, I mean LOVED.
evila_elf´s story reminded me of something I had read about some time ago. There was a community on the web that tried to create a new version of that game called Broken Sword 2.5. They drawed the original places, made up a whole new story and mystery, created new music and even managed to engage some of the original speaker. So, I looked it up and found out that on Sept., 28th they had published the game on their website... WAIT FOR IT... for free. You go there, download it and can dive into your twelve-year-old self again. I promise you, it´s awesome. Pity, I´m already through the whole thing. I have the first part somewhere at my parent´s though. Need to get it on Christmas.
