The great thing about entering a fandom, I recently disovered, is not just the fine fics and art popping up almost unceasingly. If you´re in a fandom of, let´s say a show that´s fairly clever, the probability of clever people being in the fandom is fairly high. And by that you come across various extraordinary things. So the other day on a Robert Sean Leonard related community I picked up a link to a story he read. It was "The Smoker" by David Schickler and I was simply amazed by its hilarity and wit. So I found out more about the author and discovered another short story by him called Fourth Angry Mouse (read it here).

Now I´ve finally finished his novel "Kissing in Manhattan" which I had ordered instantly and it´s all I love about storytelling. I couldn´t put the book aside and I didn´t want it to finish. At the first glance the chapters seem to be unlinked short stories of Manhattan people (I tell you they´re all nothing like The Littles) trying to finde love or trying to make sense of their life... No No, come back! It´s witty and highly entertaining. These people are as weird as we all would like to be sometimes. Throughout the stories characters the reader has met reappear and all the little aspects come together like a fugue. Additionally everything is decorated with a urban fairy tale touch et voilá... awesomeness!
... It also showed me how many English words with "s" I still don´t know.

I´ve uploaded "The Smoker" read by RSL here for you again because I couldn´t find the original post anymore.

Other major achievements of this week:

- Made a podfic.

- Listened to the first part of The Bromeliad Trilogy by Pratchett and think it´s quite funny.

- Got myself a shiny new pair of red Chucks.

- I HAS MADE PLUM CAKE. YUMMY!

- Downloaded masses of music on [livejournal.com profile] fanmix and [livejournal.com profile] audiography, both of which are just brilliant communities. There even was a Stephen Colbert Mix on [livejournal.com profile] fanmix here. I have just discovered this guy, this community and think he´s brilliant.

- I´m at 600 words at my first ever Kingdom fic which is also my first real fic ever and the real meaty parts aren´t written yet, so I guess that´s quite okay for me.

- Done nothing for university, though...

And now I´m going to watch "Galaxy Quest" for the only reason that Alan Rickman is in it but I can´t watch it in English although he has the most marvellous voice but decided not to bicker about it to my boyfriend.
